Nassan’s Place – Sensory Movies and Santa!

If you don’t know about Nassan’s Place, right now is the perfect time to learn! You can see a little explanation in my Community Section, but this amazing organization is by the parents, for the families, of children with special needs. Just an FYI, you can see all of their events here, and be sure to check back onto their page regularly because lots of awesome things get updated!

On Saturday, December 3rd, they are hosting a sensory friendly movie screening of the new movie “Moana”. If you do not know what “sensory friendly” means, you can be sure that everyone there is open, accepting, and ready to help with your children, no matter what. The lights are kept on, but are dim, and the sound is not ear-wrenchingly loud. Theatres do their best to keep the sesnsory overload to a minimum, and the families connected to Nassan’s Place are also wonderful, understanding families, so you are in some really good hands.

On Sunday, December 11, Nassan’s Place will be hosting their 4th annual Holiday Celebration. This is yet another amazing opportunity for your child to be part of the holiday season and have the freedom to be themselves. The Holiday Celebration will be full of food, giving, presents, love, and Santa. What else would any family want during this beautiful time of the year?

In speaking with Mrs. Nadine Wright-Arbubakrr, she stated “I just want to create a safe space for families with special needs, without any staring or judgement. Just a lot of love and respect of children’s different needs.”

I couldn’t agree more.
